The hypocrisy of the GOP astonishes me sometimes.
Republicans have supported and defended the most divisive president for four years now. You know, the guy who threatened to cut federal funding to Democratic led cities? Yeah, that’s him.
I wonder how Trump’s appeal to spite feels to all the Republicans living in blue states. Here’s a guy willing to hurt members of his own base because they live in an area where they are the minority or run by a member of the opposing party.
I also wonder how many of them still voted for him. It’s the best example of cutting off the nose to spite one’s face I’ve heard in a long time.
Now that this megalomaniac (and their allegiance to him) has destroyed the credibility of their party and lost them the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the presidency, they suddenly want unity and less divisiveness.
To that I say get bent.
Why does it always seem like the Democrats are the ones that need to play nice? Remember the “Lock Her up” chants? How about the “You Lost, Get Over It” comments? Don’t forget about “F*ck Your Feelings”. Don’t you love that one?
Now that their power is waning, suddenly there are calls for unity.
“Let’s bring the country together and move forward, and return to being this America, the greatest nation ever,” he remarked. “That’s where we need to focus.” ~Jim Jordan
“But here is what a vote to impeach would do: A vote to impeach would further divide this nation. A vote to impeach will further fan the flames of partisan divisions.” ~ Kevin McCarthy
This impeachment would be unnecessary, it would be divisive, and it’s only being done because Democrats want to keep the focus on President Trump. ~Matt Gaetz
In unsurprisingly selfishness, it seems like these guys only want unity when something affects them and their supporters. Tell me then douchebags, how would it make 81 million Americans feel if Trump and his criminal cabal were allowed to leave office with no repercussions for his incitement of an attack on our Capitol? Seems like you’re not thinking about the other side, eh?
If you want healing, we need accountability first. Turning the page without admitting Trump and his Congressional supporters are culpable for this insurrection would be much more divisive than punishing those who attempted to undermine our democracy.
